Meet Ginger Haselden Ginger has been singing since she was a child and has over 35 years of teaching experience. She majored in Music (voice) at Coker College (SC) and has continued her studies at Westminster Choir College, Rutgers University, and privately in New York City. Always going to conferences and workshops and singing in many different locations and choirs. Professional Organizations
Ginger is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE) and American Choral Directors Assoc. In addition, she attends numerous seminars and conferences, and also adjudicates auditions. (Attended 3 voice seminars, workshops, conferences already in 2015.) Professional Experience A soprano, Ginger has appeared professionally in opera, musical theatre, television commercials, and recitals in Italy, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Ginger has directed the music for Parkway Playhouse (Burnsville, NC) for "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," "9 To 5: The Musical," "Seussical The Musical!" and "Guys and Dolls"; for Cranford (NJ) Repertory Theatre's production of "West Side Story"; and for Asheville (NC) Community Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast." She has served as Young Artists Vocal Coach for 3 years for the Rome Festival Opera in Italy. Performed in Rome summer of 2015 and scheduled for Lincoln Center in May 2016 with Dr. Andre Thomas. Ginger performs in solo recital and with Asheville Symphony Chorus, Asheville Lyric Opera Chorus, Asheville Choral Society, Asheville Community Theatre, and Central United Methodist Church.
Ginger is available as a soloist for weddings and other special occasions.
Teaching Technique The development of a self-confident, well-trained, expressive singer is one of Ginger's goals. She tailors her teaching method to the individual talent, needs, interests and skill levels of each student. She is also experienced with working w/ students on healthy vocal production for singing or public speaking. She teaches musical theatre classes/camp for the Asheville Community Theatre, and is a former music teacher in public schools. She serves on the Board of Directors for Asheville Lyric Opera Guild.
